Colin Prior

As one of the world’s top landscape photographers, Colin Prior has crisscrossed the globe – to Bhutan, Alaska, Zimbabwe, Australia, Pakistan, Namibia, and innumerable other places – in search of what he calls “extreme landscapes”. He is constantly in search of wild places, places where the natural world exists undisturbed. What has driven the Scottish photographer forward for the past three decades is that unrepeatable moment when light and landscape are fused in a way that suggests the transcendental. He knows, better than anyone, that once the shutter button has been pressed, the moment is gone forever.

Born in Glasgow, in 1958, his proximity to the Highlands had a powerful influence in shaping his passion for the natural world. His work with the panoramic format has led to numerous commissions, awards and solo exhibitions. He is a Fellow of both the Royal Photographic Society and the International League of Conservation Photographers.
